About Apparao Dekka

Apparao Dekka (S’10–M’18) received the B.Tech. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India, in 2007, the M.Tech. degree in electrical engineering from IIT Bombay, India, in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada, in 2017. He was with Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, in 2019, where he is currently a Assistant Professor. From 2017 to 2019, he was a postdoctoral research fellow with the Laboratory for Electric Drive Applications and Research, Ryerson University. From 2010 to 2012, he was a Research Engineer with the Power Electronics Laboratory, The Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed technical papers, a Wiley-IEEE press book on "Modular Multilevel Converters: Analysis, Control, and Applications," and two Springer book chapters. His current research interests include High-Power Converters, Medium-Voltage Drives, Renewable Energy Systems, EV Charging Technology, and Microgrids and Power Quality. Dr. Dekka was a recipient of the Outstanding Reviewer Award for the year 2015 from the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics in 2016, and IET Premium Award (Best Paper) from IET Electric Power Applications in 2019.
